I am looking foreward to the release of the new mega-violent computer game "Kingpin". So are lots of others. As a person who works in retail, I get at least three calls a day for this title. However, the store that I work at, among other retailers, is considering banning the title from its shelves. Retailers feel that the game contains too much violence and profanity. So what? Since when does a store decide what I am going to buy? This is blatant censorship. I didn't think that the retail industry would stoop to this level. Let's face it, consumers, not retailers, decide what is going to be on store shelves. I really hope that these stores come to their senses, because the availability of this title will greatly influence where I buy software in the future. As a customer, I will decide what I want to buy. I don't want to have to run around to 20 different stores just to find a game. Yes, the game is intended for adults. So what? It is the responsibilty of the store staff to ensure that this game is only sold to adults. This leads me to believe that this may not be totally a censorship issue, but a "laziness" issue. The bottom line is, let the customers decide what they want to buy. Let's be honest, it's only a game.
